The next question is, if bare feet are an issue, what about thongs - pretty much the same thing with a layer of rubber under them.<br /><br />The main issue is usually one of safety - if you step on something or drop something on your feet. If work or a public place condones bare feet, they can be liable for any such injury, so they all "ban" it.
