New South Wales Parliament passed a law yesterday that allows human embryos to be created solely for research (“Stem cell ban lifted”, June 27). While I am not opposed to stem cell research in general, the fact that scientists have been granted this shortcut through such ethically murky waters is truly the ends justifying the means, despite no end in sight, and despite other less ethically problematic but viable means.

good letter - I must have forgotten to read them that day. Did it get published?
Maybe you could post links to the articles and letters you are responding to for those of us too lazy to look them up.
