Temperature hot or spicy hot

One thing I hate about the English language is that there are not separate words for temperature hot and spicy hot.
I really hate it when someone comments about some food they have just eaten and they say "Whoa, that's hot" and then someone else says "Do you mean temperature hot or spicy hot?". There should be separate words.
Any suggestions?

"Whoa, that's chilli." ;-)
It's better than "Whoa, that's hot" but not sure it will cover times when the spice is not chilli. I like it though.
