Chuggers – The Dollar for Dollar method

After having listened to the whole spiel about charity X show great interest in donating to charity X and then when the question of how much to give is mentioned, tell them that you would be happy to donate the same amount that they are giving each month to charity X (Please note, that this may backfire if they do actually give something or if they lie and tell you that they give $1000 a month)
