The Wednesday Word - mumpsimus
Today’s word is mumpsimus. It means the adherence to or the
persistent use of language that is incorrect. It comes from a story many
centuries ago about an illiterate priest who continued to mispronounce a word
while reciting the liturgy and refused to change the way he said the word even
when corrected.
Here is my quote for it:
“The internet has been the greatest advance for the number
of mumpsimus in every day life. Some people use bad grammar and incorrect words
because of ignorance, others because of habit, while some do it simply to annoy
the ever increasing army of grammar Nazis online.”

Feel free to let me know if you ever come across a word you think may be appropriate for this part of my blog.
